Facebook Timelines are here for Pages! Ooo some good changes and some not so good. But I get into that in my video. In my timeline tutorial I talk about:
- Your Cover photo and an easy way to create a fantastic looking cover photo. Just remember that you can’t have any calls to action (like Click Like or Sign up for my newsletter) or any contact information (website, e-mail, phone number). Which I think is irritating.
- How to draw attention to your Applications and your Welcome Page.
- Ways to arrange your Timeline and find things.
Make sure you check out my new Timeline at www.facebook.com/GrandmaMaryShow
Also here are some of the key Facebook Page Timeline dimensions that you need to know:
Cover photo: 850 pixels wide x 315 pixels high
Profile Picture: 180 x 180 pixels and it sizes down to 30 x 30 in the News Feed so don’t make it too complex.
Custom Tab Image for Applications: 111 pixels wide x 84 pixels high
Tabs: 810 pixels wide (formerly 520 pixels wide) so use all that space!

What do you think about the new Timeline? Love it? Hate it? Can’t figure something out? Tell me in the comments!
Great tutorial. Thanks! A couple days ago I saw the option to switch to new timeline. I wasn’t ready then so I ignored it. Now I can’t find it. How do I get to the page where I add my new timeline photo and all that good stuff?
Andrea, simply good tip and much better showing by a video. I made a questions a Mari Smith about, how can I get a facebook address from a post I made or someone made.
And this was the answer from a Mari Smith´s fan: Erin Monigold Are you talking about the unique URL for a post? Just click on the time or date. For instance, on this post you would click on “31 minutes ago” or whatever the time is when you check it.
Grandma Mary, I like the changes, overall. I especially like the Message, and my Fans are taking advantage of it. ;o) I also like that the admin box is directly in my face. It’s cool to welcome the new Likers. Thank you for the dimensions. I’ve seen many different specs. Setting aside time to spruce up my timeline, this week.
Thanks Itel! Love your new Timeline – looks fantastic!
Thanks William!
Thanks Marlene! If you have the preview turned on, you switch back to your personal profile and then navigate to the page and you will see all the timeline preview there.
Thanks, Grandma. You ALWAYS have the best tips!!!! How do we insertt the cute little icons that we create for the custom tab images?
Love the video tutorial. Very well done, thx. I didn’t check the preview and now it seems the timeline is turned off. Is there a possibility to turn it back on or do I have to wait until the 31st? Thanks in advance!
I hate it. I wish it were moer customizable and that my posts were at the top.
Yes, if you navigate to your Page while logged in as your Profile, you should see the preview again. They don’t make that clear at all! Wellllll it’s Facebook.
I’m not a fan of the fact that you can only see your own posts or all posts by others but not intermingled like before. Sigh – maybe we’ll get used to it! Thanks!
So sorry I missed this Sue Ann! Yes, you just hit the down arrow to show all the icons, then there is a little pencil icon in the upper left corner of the app when you hover over it. Click on that and then Edit settings! I also have another post on Social Media Examiner that can help: http://www.socialmediaexaminer.com/7-new-facebook-changes-impacting-businesses/
Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful! I have one problem that I haven’t been able to work out and that’s the about box under my profile picture. I noticed on your timeline, your “about” description appears whereas on mine, basic info and contact no. appears instead of my about description. I’m not sure how to get it to work properly.

Glad you liked it! You have to go into Manage (dropdown at the top) then Edit Page then Click on Basic Information. The About section is in there – very hidden! But looks like you may have filled that out from your question. It may also be because you could be classified as a Place. I’ve seen some differences for Places!
Thanks. It was the page classification that was the problem.
G’ma, as always, the best explanations on the web. Another way to create a very easy image is by using Wordle. http://www.wordle.net/ If you want some words larger, just repeat them more in the text; if you want to keep words together, use ~ between the word. You can see a sample on my page: https://www.facebook.com/HamptonMarketing Not as sophisticated as the one you showed how to create here, but if people are in a pinch, it will work!
Thanks, G’ma Mary! Learning how to edit the apps pictures and titles was really helpful. Now I have a clear call to action!
